Maybe my artist statement
should just be excerpts…

I so much wanted to get away
from the photograph but I
suppose it is an inevitable
crutch for me.

Painting my life is also a
reaction to my fear of
forgetting my life.  People
live to be so old and our
memories of our lives tend to
be so worn thin.

So yesterday was not
productive.  And today?  My
body failed me.  After waking
at 3:30 this morning unable
to return to sleep until 7:00
when Anthony woke.  Sore
throat, bad stomach.  There
is just something counter
productive about diarrhea.

I’m enjoying the hell out of
this painting.  Probably
means it’s shit.

I made myself rather ugly to
look at.  I still have to
paint the sides and varnish
and take photos….

I find my impatient, lazy
life style adapts well to
using acrylic.

You would think you would get
to know some one who is
taking an organ out of you.

I suppose I’m not intelligent
enough to understand purely
conceptual work.  I need a
bit of reality, if only a
little.

I would expect you to ask why
a pile of dead mice is a
reflection of my life.  Well
it is something I see
regularly.  Remember this is
my life not yours and I can’t
help it if your life is
boring.

Oh well, here’s to small
bathrooms everywhere.

It’s not a very good painting
I suppose.  I was gonna make
it good but now I’m just
afraid of it.

I believe it’s too big for an
actual gall bladder.  But as
I stated earlier; it’s a
painting, not reality.

I wish that spot would dry so
I could start painting again.
